About these clips
Every sound effect below drives the loudspeaker through one square-wave routine, and every tune
through the tune player. The bursts and their order come from the code. The gaps between them are estimates,
because the game paces itself.
Title tune
The tune heard on the title screen, in the high-score wait, and while the game-over screen waits for a restart. Fed byte by byte to the tune player from its note data.
Game-over tune
The tune that marks the end of a game. Fed byte by byte to the tune player from its note data.
Key-press blip
The blip that answers a key press in the menus and prompts, and when you pause or resume. Played by the key-press blip routine.
Brick destroyed
A brick hit that shatters the brick to an empty slot. Played by the brick-destroyed sound routine.
Brick survives the hit
A brick hit that leaves the brick in place: a golden brick, or a silver brick
that steps down. Played by sfx_brick_survives.
Prize-reveal tune
Four notes, played when a ball reveals a prize. Fed byte by byte to the tune player from
its note data.
Bomb detonation
The bomb prize as it blows its 3×3 hole in the field. Played by the bomb sound routine.
Bat grows
The bat as it grows longer when the expand prize is taken. Played by the bat-grows sound routine.
Death burst
The death burst, as an inhabitant dies or the bat explodes when the last ball in
play is lost. A missile shot that bursts on a wall and a ball gem whose flight runs
out play it too. Played by sfx_death_burst.
Name-entry cursor move
The cursor as it steps along the name-entry strip. Every position on the strip has
its own pitch. Played by sfx_name_cursor.
